Welcome to Pleasant Hill Elementary!
Dear Pleasant Hill Parents,
Hello! I am thrilled to be a part of the Pleasant Hill Elementary School community, and I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you. I have had a wonderful summer becoming familiar with the school building and staff members. But most of all, I look forward to meeting your children on the first day of school. The first day is always one of my favorite days! The kids are sun-kissed and excited about all their summer adventures. They come in with shiny new supplies and big grins on their faces. Their excitement is contagious and puts me in a positive frame of mind to start every new school year.
I thought I would share some personal and professional information with you to begin to build the bridges we need in order to work together to educate our children. My husband (of thirty years) and I, have two grown sons. Our oldest son is married to a beautiful young high school teacher! Dane, our youngest, is still fully committed to the bachelor life! Our family enjoys celebrating holidays and birthdays together. We love the fresh veggies of summer and opportunities to use the grill on our deck.
I have been an educator for 20 years. I taught elementary school for twelve years on the northwest side of Indianapolis. I also served as an instructional coach one year and as a Special Services staff developer one year. I was fortunate to be selected as an assistant principal at a large metropolitan elementary school in Indy and remained in that position for 3 1/2 years. After that, I became the principal at Sommer Elementary in North Montgomery Community School Corporation. That was four years ago. I have fallen in love with North Montgomery and the family of educators, students and parents that live here. Now, I am happy to continue my career at Pleasant Hill!
I have learned much this summer about the traditions and expectations of excellence that make Pleasant Hill a wonderful place for children to grow and learn. I know that our job of educating children cannot be done without support and input from parents. No one knows our students better than you, so we will rely on you to let us know of any special needs, concerns and helpful hints that can make learning more enjoyable for your children. Many practices and procedures will remain in place for your children and as a staff, we will continue to seek out additional ways to improve our effectiveness in instruction.
